Strategic immigration
counsel for lawyers who
need answers now.
You have a question that matters. Maybe it's a complex immigration file that's landed in your inbox. Maybe it's a client whose status is at stake and you need to understand the exposure before you advise them. Maybe you've been practising for a few years and you want to talk to someone who's built a thriving legal business and knows what it actually takes.
Expert Access is a private, one-on-one advisory session with me — Evelyn Ackah, immigration lawyer and founder of Ackah Law. I've been practising Canadian and US immigration law for over 25 years. I've seen the edge cases, the hard files, and the practice management questions most lawyers figure out by trial and error. You don't have to.
Built for professionals
who want to develop and grow.
Expert Access is for lawyers, RCICs, and licensed legal professionals — not for immigration applicants or general clients. I created this for the colleagues and professionals who reach out to me regularly with questions I can genuinely help with. If you are navigating a situation where immigration intersects with your practice area, or you need experienced perspective to advise your own clients, this is for you.
Canadian Immigration Lawyers
You're a Canadian immigration lawyer and you need a second opinion on a complex provincial nominee or federal file.
Criminal & Family Lawyers
You're a criminal defence or family lawyer and your client's immigration status is tied to the outcome — and you need to understand the exposure before you advise them.
Registered Immigration Consultants
You're a Registered Immigration Consultant (RCIC) dealing with a situation that sits outside the standard process and you want expert input.
US Attorneys with Canadian Questions
You're a US attorney with Canadian immigration questions — TN visas, CUSMA work permits, cross-border business immigration — and you need someone who actually practises on both sides.
Corporate & Employment Lawyer
You're a corporate or employment lawyer and work permits, LMIA requirements, or intra-company transfers keep appearing in your files.
Lawyers Building Their Practice
You're a lawyer building or growing your own practice and you want to talk to someone who's done it — scaling, staffing, technology, business development, all of it.
If any of that sounds like you, Expert Access was made for you.
Your clients deserve
the right answer,
not your best guess.
"For years I've been giving away expertise I spent 25 years building. Lawyers would reach out after a conference, through a referral, or just via LinkedIn — and the conversation would start with 'can I ask you a quick question?' I always said yes. I want to continue that with these sessions."
— Evelyn Ackah
Every year, dozens of lawyers reach out to Evelyn after conferences, through referrals, and via LinkedIn — asking questions they can't easily answer for their own clients. A criminal lawyer whose client faces deportation. A family lawyer unsure how a separation affects a spousal sponsorship.
These conversations used to happen informally, at no charge. Expert Access formalizes them — so Evelyn can show up fully prepared, give you dedicated time, and provide the focused strategic guidance the situation deserves.
It also means your clients get a real answer, not a hedged one.
- Immigration law moves fast. What applies in one province or practice context may not apply in another. Get specific guidance for your specific situation.
- You've already done the intake. You understand the client. What you need is experienced perspective on the immigration dimension, not another referral.
- A one-session conversation can save weeks of uncertainty, an error in advice, or an outcome that damages your client's case and your relationship with them.
- If the file needs formal co-counsel or referral to Ackah Business Immigration Law, you'll know that clearly — and you'll have a relationship in place to make it happen.
- Availability is intentionally limited. Three sessions per week means Evelyn comes prepared and gives each session her full attention.

Immigration counsel
lawyers trust with their
hardest questions.
Evelyn Ackah is a Calgary-based immigration lawyer and the founder of Ackah Law. Called to the Bar in Alberta in 1999, she has spent over 25 years advising individuals and organizations on complex cross-border immigration matters across Canada and the United States.
She built Ackah Law with a particular focus on the intersection of immigration law and business — corporate relocations, intracompany transfers, entrepreneur visas, and the day-to-day realities of helping clients move and work across borders.
Over the years, Evelyn has become a trusted resource for other legal professionals. Criminal defence lawyers, family law lawyers, employment counsel, and US-based attorneys regularly reach out when their files have an immigration dimension they aren't equipped to handle alone. Expert Access is her structured answer to those calls.
She is a frequent speaker on immigration topics, a contributor to legal education programming, and a recognized voice on the realities of running a successful immigration practice.
One conversation.
Real answers.
